Follow the journey from pasture to blanket through transparent wool production and traditional craftsmanship.

Ethical Animal Care

Our Merino sheep are family. Their wellbeing, comfort, and care come before everything we create.

Community & Connections

Supporting local jobs, local farmers, and creating a place where visitors, families, and traditional craftsmanship.

From Our Flock to Your Family

Welcome to Laine Wool Farm.

A place where the countryside slows time, where craftsmanship still matters, and where every thread tells a story.

Laine Wool Farm is a woman-owned agricultural, artisan, and tourism venture currently being established in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.

Our vision is to create South Africa's first true farm-to-fibre destination, where visitors can experience every step of the journey—from caring for our beloved Merino sheep to the creation of beautiful handcrafted wool products.

At the heart of Laine Wool Farm are our white and black Merino flocks. Their wool will become the foundation of our yarn, blankets, and artisan products, all produced with a commitment to transparency, sustainability, and exceptional animal care.

We believe people deserve to know where their products come from.

We believe craftsmanship should be celebrated.

And we believe every product should tell a story.

Laine Wool Farm is more than a farm.

It is a place where agriculture, education, tourism, artisan craftsmanship, and community come together.

As we begin this journey, we are exploring several potential locations and welcoming conversations with developers, investors, and partners who share our vision of building something truly special.

Our long-term plans include:

• A family home at the heart of the farm

• Grazing pastures for our Merino flocks

• Wool production and processing facilities

• A country-style restaurant

• A farm shop

• Children's play areas

• Educational tours

• Workshops and events

• Tourism experiences

Most importantly, it will be a place where visitors can connect with nature, craftsmanship, and the stories behind the products they bring into their homes.

From Flock to Fibre

Our Sheep & The Wool Journey

Everything begins with our sheep.

At Laine Wool Farm, our Merino flocks are not simply livestock.

They are family.

Each sheep plays an important role in the story we are creating, and their wellbeing will always come first.

Our goal is to provide a level of transparency rarely seen in the wool industry. Visitors will be able to witness and learn about every stage of the wool journey—from the care and management of our sheep to shearing, wool processing, spinning, and the creation of our yarn and handcrafted products.

Many people purchase wool products without ever knowing where the wool originated or how the animals were treated.

We want to change that.

Through guided tours, educational experiences, and open access to our processes, we aim to reconnect people with the origins of natural fibres and help them understand the skill, care, and craftsmanship involved.

Our focus is not on producing the largest volume of wool.

Our focus is on producing exceptional wool, while maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare and ethical farming.

Every blanket, every skein of yarn, and every handcrafted piece begins with a sheep that is known, valued, and cared for.

Because when you know the story behind something, it becomes far more meaningful.

Celebrating Local Farmers, Local Flavours, and Local Stories

Our Country Kitchen & Community

One of the most exciting parts of Laine Wool Farm is our vision for a country-style restaurant and gathering space.

More than simply a café, it will be a place where people can slow down, connect, and experience the best of our local farming community.

Wherever Laine Wool Farm ultimately calls home, our goal is to work alongside neighbouring farmers, producers, artisans, and small businesses to create a menu built around locally sourced ingredients and seasonal produce.

We believe great food begins with great farmers.

Our restaurant will celebrate the people who grow, raise, create, and produce exceptional products within our community.

Visitors will be able to enjoy fresh meals while overlooking grazing pastures, watching sheep in the fields, and experiencing life on a working farm.

Families can spend time together, children can enjoy nature-based play areas, and visitors can explore our farm shop, workshops, and educational experiences.

We want Laine Wool Farm to become a destination people return to again and again—not just for the products we create, but for the experience, the atmosphere, and the sense of connection they find here.

A place where community matters.

A place where craftsmanship is celebrated.

A place where every visitor becomes part of the story.

More Than a Blanket. A Story Woven by Many Hands.

Our Blankets & The Hands Behind Them

At Laine Wool Farm, we believe a blanket should be more than something that keeps you warm.

It should tell a story.

Every blanket we create begins long before the first stitch is made. It starts in the pastures with our Merino sheep, continues through the careful shearing and processing of their wool, and ends in the hands of skilled artisans who transform that fibre into something truly extraordinary.

Our signature blankets will be handcrafted using traditional arm-knitting techniques, creating luxurious oversized blankets that are as beautiful as they are functional. Each piece will be unique, carrying the natural character of the wool and the craftsmanship of the person who created it.

Because our production is intentionally small and focused on quality rather than mass manufacturing, every blanket will be a bespoke creation.

Many will be crafted using the natural white and black colours of our Merino flocks, celebrating the beauty of the fibre exactly as nature intended. Custom commissions and special colour requests will also be available for those seeking something truly personal.

Creating Opportunity Through Craftsmanship

Teaching locals a new skill

One of the most important parts of Laine Wool Farm is the opportunity to create meaningful employment and skills development within our community.

As the farm grows, we plan to train and employ local men and women in various aspects of our operation, including:

• Animal care and husbandry

• Sheep handling and welfare

• Shearing support

• Wool sorting and preparation

• Fibre processing

• Yarn production

• Arm knitting and blanket creation

• Retail and visitor experiences

• Workshop facilitation

Our goal is not simply to create products.

Our goal is to create opportunities.

By teaching traditional and modern fibre skills, we hope to provide valuable training, meaningful employment, and the chance for individuals to become part of a growing artisan industry.

From Farm to Finished Blanket

More than just a farm

What makes Laine Wool Farm different is that visitors will be able to witness the entire journey.

They will see where the wool comes from.

They will meet the sheep.

They will learn about the care and dedication involved in raising a healthy flock.

They will watch the transformation from fleece to fibre, fibre to yarn, and yarn to finished blanket.

And they will meet the artisans whose hands bring each piece to life.

Every blanket will represent more than craftsmanship.

It will represent animal welfare.

It will represent community.

It will represent education.

It will represent local job creation.

And it will represent a commitment to doing things differently.

When someone wraps themselves in a Laine Wool Farm blanket, we want them to feel connected—not only to the wool, but to the people, the animals, and the story behind it.

Because the most beautiful things are not simply made.

They are cared for, nurtured, and brought to life by many hands along the way.
